Des arrestations particulièrement violentes qui ont provoqué la colère des manifestants. Inspirées par le mouvement guyanais, d’importantes manifestations se sont récemment déroulées au Suriname. Des milliers de personnes sont descendus dans les rues avant le week-end de Pâques

Er waren enkele honderden mensen op de been. De zwaar bewapende Mobiele Eenheid, met traangas in de aanslag, probeerde de demonstratie te voorkomen, maar dat mislukte. Vier actievoerders, onder wie Wilgo Valies, voorzitter van de Bond van Leraren, werden hardhandig gearresteerd
