Siaya leases Sh40m hospital equipment
The Siaya County Referral Hospital has leased Sh40 million equipment from the Health ministry. It includes five dialysis and ICU machines and a water treatment facility. The equipment was supplied by the Anjelica Medical Supply Company. The equipment, under the state’s Managed Equipment Services project, will be operated by four nurses and one biomedical engineer trained by the Anjelica company. Seven counties have not paid more than 300 striking doctors their December salaries, the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has disclosed. Union officials named Mombasa, Bomet, Kwale, Siaya, Nakuru, Nairobi and another county which they did not disclose among those still holding onto the doctors’ salaries. Fresh cholera outbreak leaves 30 hospitalised

Siaya county to improve health services
The Siaya county government is drafting a bill to improve health services. Health executive Dr Edward Owila said through the County Health Improvement Services Bill the county government will set aside funds for developing its hospitals. He said the bill will enable the county retain the funds collected from its health facilities to be used for development, without necessarily channelling it to the central government coffers first.
