- The Monument Hill Fire in Grant County grew quickly overnight Wednesday, sparking evacuation orders for more than 80 homes outside of Ephrata. No injuries were reported but one home was destroyed, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. The fire burned in grass and sage in winds of seven to 20 mph, authorities said. About 4 a.m., firefighters seemed to have been “getting the upper hand” and the Level 3 evacuation was reduced to Level 1, according to the sheriff’s office
